Heil Microphones for Serious Recording
For decades, the serious recording producers have kept their mic closets full of condensers, old ribbons and a couple of the industry standard ball microphones. Dynamic microphones were never at the top of the list because they all were at least 30 year old designs and they simply never had the response and sound that made the producers' job easier.
After a request from his long time friend, Joe Walsh, Bob developed the PR 20, PR 30 and PR 40 dynamic microphones with wide frequency ranges and gorgeous voice articulation.
Producers Joe Barresi, Russ Long and Kurt Ballou all agree that the PR 20 is simply the best vocal and snare microphone. The response is over an octave wider and the articulation is superb. The best part is that there is no need to equalize this marvelous new piece of dynamic technology.
Recording engineers agree that the PR 30, with its large 1.5" diameter diaphragm, is the best guitar, piano and overhead microphone. With its amazing rear rejection the PR 30 will replace overly sensitive condensers that pick up everything in the room.
The PR 40 is the cannon of dynamic microphones, with a frequency range of 28 Hz. to 18 kHz., it's the absolute best mic for kick drums and horns. With a great articulate mid range rise at 5K (instead of the usual nasal sounding 2 or 3k) the PR 40 is well suited for vocals and instruments. Hollywood has even discovered the PR 40 for capturing the sound of cannons and guns. Outperforming the age old thousands of dollar condensers, the PR 40 reproduces it's wide frequency range with unbelievable clarity.
