The Pro Set Quiet Phone™ (PSQP) Series is available in three models, depending on which microphone element you wish to use. The PSQP-4 utilizes the HC-4 "DX Dream Machine" element, while the PSQP-5 contains the popular HC-5 full-range element. The PSQP-iC contains the high-performance Heil Sound electret element for earlier Icom models. All the PSQP models interface with the Heil AD-1 Series of adapter cables, for easy interconnection to your transceiver's mic jack.
To achieve the noise cancellation, two sensitive, out-of-phase microphones are imbedded deep inside each earphone speaker; the microphones' outputs are fed to a differential amplifier, which is located in the hand control/battery box. When the Noise Cancellation is switched on, the outside low-frequency ambient noise is reduced by 15 dB, with the -3 dB point set at 400 Hz. When you're flying to some exotic DX spot, be sure to use the Pro Set Quiet Phones on the plane to listen to music or watch the movie. . .you'll be stunned to hear the jet engine noise go down so much when you engage the noise cancellation feature!
In addition to the active noise cancellation, the PSQP Series also includes the award-winning Heil Sound speaker phase-reversal system, which allows the user to "move" the incoming signal by engaging the phase-reversal switch; this creates a unique spatial widening sound that can, in some situations, significantly improve copy in a tough DX pile-up.
A handy Push-To-Talk soft-touch switch is located on the hand control/battery box; this feeds the PTT plug on the attached cable, which, in turn connects to the AD-1 adapter cable for connection to your rig.
The PSQP is delivered with a foam wind-screen for the microphone, as well as two washable cotton ear-pad covers that help make the vinyl ear pads much smoother and cooler to wear. And the PSQP is supplied with a Leatherette carrying bag, for safe transport to your next DX-pedition location! A special compartment is provided for storage of your AD-1 adapters, cables, and batteries (not included).
